This is Part 2 of the Your Best Year Yet series. Check out Part 1: Planning Your New Year's Resolutions - Making Goals that Matter.
Hey Glow Getters! Are you ready to make New Year’s resolutions you actually stick to?
As we’ve heard before, only 8% of us are actually successful at keeping our New Year’s resolutions. Yikes! This type of stat often keeps many from even making New Year’s resolutions at all. However, that’s not the best strategy either: statistics show that people who explicitly state their resolutions are ten times more likely to achieve their goals than those who don’t.
Today, I’ll tell you how to B. SMART when you’re making goals. B. SMART is an acronym that stands for Bold, Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Time-bound. Using this formula to articulate our goals makes them easier to stick to by leaving no room for ambiguity about what we want to do.
Let’s dive a little deeper. For each principle, we’ll use an example. Download the free printable worksheet to follow along.
See how that goal was refined as we went along? Apply this process to any of your New Year’s resolutions to ensure you have explicitly stated goals to achieve.
